First Training Sesh!

Today I had one of my first training sessions with a little boy with the
name of Avrick. I can’t tell you how anticipatory I’ve been for this day.
Fitness has been my life as long as I can remember, and to actually start
being able to provide my knowledge and assistance towards individuals is
just… wow. On my way there I was quite nervous the whole time, trying to
focus on directions and what I was going to do. I actually had written down
what I wanted to do, but decided to just leave it in the car as he is a
child, I figured we’d just see what he wanted to do first, and then
incorporate what I wanted to do. It was very exciting to meet him and his
brother Collin. They were gems. Two sweet, small, little boys, with parents
who were extremely enthusiastic about them exercising in general. It’s
always good to have active parents who support it (monkey see, monkey do
concept). Children are very impressionable- if they see you grab water
instead of a soda, an apple instead of chips, etc. it will affect them. Av
is starting soccer in a month, so we worked on agility drills, sprints, and
threw in a little functional moves like squats and lunges. We also did some
stretches and soccer drills. He learns very well by observing and responded
very well. All in all, I feel like he did wonderful. He is a very very
smart boy and a great listener, but also very competitive. I feel very
fortunate for today and can’t wait til the next session! Hopefully it’s the
first of many to come with many in my future :) - Trystan
